中国の航洋ジャンク船 （隔壁構造の模型） [香港海事博物館]

画像は、香港海事博物館に展示される中国の隔壁構造をもつ航洋型ジャンク船の模型である。 説明パネルによると、中国で最もよく発達した伝統的船舶の主要な構造的特徴である隔壁を備えている。船の大きさにもよるが、 3から22個の隔壁をもっていた。隔壁は堅牢にして船を横断するフレームで造られていた。隔壁は船の建造を容易にすることからもともと 創意工夫されていたものであったが、それ以外の特性をもつことを証明した。その最も重要な特性とは、 船に穴が開いた時に浸水を制御できるというものである。説明パネルには英文で次のように記されている。 Cross Section of a Chinese Oceangoing Junk Mr. Zhu Zhilong, China, 2005 Wood and bamboo This shows the typical main construction features of the fully developed traditional Chinese vessel, which had from three to 22 internal divisions depending on size. The divisions are made by transverse, solid frames. Although these originated because they simplify construction, they proved to have other properties, most importantly controlling flooding of the vessel was holed.
